This paper discusses the genre of first part Narrative Compendium Pilgrim America (1728), by Nuno Marques Pereira. Based on evidence found in this eighteenth-century prose fiction work, it is proposed that consists a «pretended history», according to conception history outlined dialogue I Court Village (1619), Francisco Rodrigues Lobo. Having no intention defining (or species), article presents considerations aim contribute critical reading appropriate Portuguese and Luso-Brazilian literate practices early 18th century.
